Thomas P. Smith
Thomas P. Smith is the co-founder of TASER International, headquartered in Scottsdale, Arizona. As a founder of the world’s leading manufacturer of electronic control devices (ECDs), Mr. Smith is credited with founding a startup company of seven employees in 1993, growing that to one with more than 350 employees that manufactures and innovates technology used by more than 17,200 international, federal, state, and local law enforcement agencies, as well as the US and foreign militaries.
Mr. Smith was also responsible for the global sales organization at TASER. His constant interaction with customers around the world built TASER’s brand recognition and export sales in more than 100 countries. Mr. Smith served as the company president from April 1994 through October 2006 and was a member of the board of directors from 1993 to 2012.
Brian T. Beckwith
Brian T. Beckwith is a retired lieutenant colonel in the United States Marine Corps, past vice president for TASER International, Inc., president of BTB Enterprises, LLC, and past product development manager and Consultant for Check-6 International, Inc. Lt. Col. Beckwith served honorably for 20 years in the Marine Corps and is a combat-decorated Naval aviator.
Upon retirement in 2007, Brian became a product development manager for TASER International. Within an 18-month span, he led development teams that brought to market four separate product initiatives: the TASER Shockwave; XREP (eXtended Range Electronic Projectile); X-12 12 ga. shotgun, co-developed with Mossberg Inc.; and the CDPM (Controlled Digital Power Magazine).
In December of 2012, Mr. Beckwith became a co-founder and managing member of Achilles Technology Solutions, LLC and in January of 2015, he co-founded ATS Armor, LLC.
Hans J. Marrero
Hans J. Marrero has a well-established and respected reputation for being a premier self-defense and hand-to-hand combat instructor. He is considered one of the leading experts in close-quarter combat in the world and is also well known throughout international law enforcement agencies due to his extensive work in anti-terrorism tactics instruction.
During his decorated military career, Gy. Sgt. (Ret.) Marrero served jointly as chief instructor of hand-to-hand combat for the US Marine Corps at Paris Island for more than four years and operated within Special Operations Groups such as US Marine Reconnaissance, US Army Delta Force and Ranger, and US Navy SEALs.
During his 18-year tenure at TASER International as chief instructor, Hans trained in excess of 60,000 military and police instructors around the world. To date, Hans has trained instructors in more than 100 different countries.
In December of 2012, Mr. Marrero became a co-founder and managing member of Achilles Technology Solutions, LLC and in January of 2015, he co-founded ATS Armor, LLC.
